This simple recipe is John's favorite sandwich, so we thought we'd share it with you. Enjoy!


John's Favorite Tri-Tip Sandwich

Start with a tri-tip (duh!), and John recommends Morton's marinated tri-tip, the Chardonnay & Garlic flavor. You can get these at Costco stores. If you can't find Morton's brand, any good quality tri-tip works just fine and you can marinate it yourself, if you like.

Grill the tri-tip until done to your liking, following the directions on the package. Just before the meat is done, start preparing the rest of the ingredients.

You will need:

1 – 2 loaves of fresh French bread
         (depending on size of tri-tip)
1 stick of butter
2 – 3 cloves of garlic
Garlic salt
½ - 1 cup of shredded Parmesan cheese
         (optional)

Have the butter at room temperature in a small bowl. Finely mince the garlic, or use a garlic press, and mix the garlic in with the butter. Stir until well blended and creamy.

Cut about a 4 - 5" wide piece of French bread and slice it through the middle from side to side, so there's a top and bottom for your sandwich. Spread some of the garlic butter on each side and cook on a griddle until golden brown on the inside. (You may need to cook it also on the crust side to heat it through.) Sprinkle it with garlic salt to taste and add some Parmesan cheese, if you like.

Once the tri-tip is done, let it set for a few minutes before slicing it. Cut the meat across into strips about 3/8" – 1/2" thick, depending on your taste. Put the meat into the grilled bread and enjoy with a cold adult beverage of your choice! Yummy!
